Welcome to the Elkhorn Lodge & Guest Ranch, having the greatest
lodging occupancy capacity of any guest ranch in the U.S. The Elkhorn
is the winter home of the big bull elk, after the annual mating
season is over - this has probably been the case for the past many
thousands of years, and is the basis of the Elkhorn name.
The
Main Lodge |
Our
lodging accommodations are spread between 33 different
buildings, including: the Main
Lodge, comprising over 30 sleeping rooms and lobby
areas, special meeting areas, a dance hall and a 250-person
dining room; the
Coach House, comprising
a large family facility with 9 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms and
a full kitchen along with two decks, and private jacuzzi;
10 Cottages representing some
of the earliest housing available anywhere in Colorado
- these units were all largely completed prior to 1889;
13 Cabins accommodating couples
or small families; 5 Alpine
houses for larger families; and the Woodshed,
consisting of 5 lower cost units for 2 persons.
|
Additionally, we have three large lodging buildings accommodating
our staff and other foreign students spending their summer
in the U.S.
| All
of our lodging facilities are well over 100 years
old; not all are equal in terms of quality and condition.
We want our prospective guests to be well aware that
the Elkhorn is a location for outdoorsy folks; where
they spend most of their time doing things rather
sitting in their rooms. None of our rooms have TV’s;
nor phones. All have bathrooms (one exception); and
that’s about it in terms of modern conveniences.
If you are or some of your family is seeking more
exquisite accommodations, we suggest they please consider
other locations - as Elkhorn lodgers are hardy folk
and don’t want to listen to whiners. All of
our marketing tools provide the alert that our lodging
is dated. Some, not all, of our cabins
have decks just as they existed a century ago; and
we hesitate to use the word ‘rustic’ as
it means different things to different folk. Hence,
we suggest everyone rely upon recommendations from
their friends or inspect the property for themselves.

In
terms of illustrating where the Elkhorn is in relation
to the Town Center, the picture on the left was taken
from the Summit of Man
Mountain, where we have had over 500 individuals
climb to the Summit and it represents one of those
activities that we recommend for all that are physically
capable.
The
couple in the picture were an engaged couple who were
married at the Elkhorn in 2002; we try to take all
of our wedding couples
on the hike to the Summit as many of their wedding
party will do, but on the wedding weekend, the last
thing a wedding couple has time for is a hike. The
couple is Mike and Beth; representing one of Elkhorn’s
most precious memories.

is in relation to Estes Park, please visit our location
