Bike Tours

Elkhorn Lodge rents bikes and helmets for group rides. We rent only to groups comprising mostly adults or having adequate adult supervision. The bikes are rented for use on only two trails or routes, including:

Scenic View

Estes Lake trail: this ride takes a maximum of three hours, with departures from the Elkhorn, along the Town’s main street (Elkhorn Avenue) to the Visitor’s Center, and then around the perimeter of Lake Estes with a return to the Elkhorn along the same route; this ride can be completed within an hour, but, most groups of adults we have included time for rest periods, taking pictures and stopping to enjoy the scenery.

Glen Haven trail: this ride is a one-way ride where the riders meet the Elkhorn Shuttle truck at the Dam Lake, approximately 2 miles East of Drake Colorado; where they are transported back to the Elkhorn - this trip is mostly downhill. This trip could take 6 to 7 hours, but most complete it in about 5 hours. Riders depart the Elkhorn and take the Estes Lake trail and, as you complete the Lake tour, the route connects to the Devil’s Gulch Road to Glen Haven, and from the Glen Haven area the trip continues to Drake, and then to the Dam Lake, located East of Drake on Highway 34.

Note: We do not permit mountain biking with our equipment as we are not in the business of repairing bikes. Generally, our bike rentals are primarily to adult seminar, conference and reunion groups; we do not rent bikes for the youth groups not having constant adult supervision, nor do we provide bikes for folks to ride around the lodge areas. Parents are totally responsible checking the equipment, testing the equipment before riding or permitting their kids to ride; there is a liability waiver form that must be completed by parents or guardians for all bike rentals and riding as the parents or guardians are responsible for any and all accidents or injuries resulting from use of Elkhorn equipment.
