WELCOME TO THE
ELKHORN LODGE AND GUEST RANCH !!

Veterans Day Celebration Was A Success
The Elkhorn Lodge and Guest Ranch, the oldest continuous operating lodge in the Rocky Mountain region.
Dating to 1874 the lodge includes 65 acres and 37 historic buildings, including the first Chapel in Estes Park, the first school house, golf course, ice house, swimming hole, and first public funded trail in the country. The Elkhorn property has stayed true to its western heritage for 137 years. This area has come under attack by developers bent on destroying the beautiful mountain setting of the Estes Valley by building a beginner slope ski area.
In 2010 the Elkhorn Preservation Society was formed to help save, restore and preserve the last of Estes Park's original tourist lodges. The Elkhorn Historic Preservation Society is a 501c non profit that was formed to save, preserve and restore the Elkhorn to its former glory. It is the last surviving member of the 1880's era lodges that began Colorado's tourism industry. We invite you to take a few moments and join us in our vision. We are looking for donors and investors to aid in efforts to purchase the property in order to keep it away from the developers who so desperately want to destroy, not only Estes Park history, but Colorado history.
Colorado Preservation Inc. has called the Elkhorn the most unique property in the entire region. Despite oppostion from the a local group of developers wanting to put a ski slope at the lodge, our society carries on to make sure Estes Park's future is as wonderful as its past, the Elkhorn Lodge in continuing its tradition of western hospitality and appreciates every guest that visits this Jewel of the West.
